Day 9, Tues 24 September

Siena’s Santa Maria della Scala was once an important hospital dedicated to caring for abandoned children, the poor, the sick and pilgrims. Now a museum, it is considered one of Siena’s most important artistic hubs. A local guide will lead us on a private tour introducing the artworks and sculptures within the vast complex, including the original sculptures from the cathedral’s façade and from the Fonte Gaia.

The afternoon is free. You might take the opportunity to go shopping, or to explore more of Siena and its surrounds, or to rest and relax back at the hotel. Activities available from the hotel include swimming, tennis, golf, bike riding, walking, horse riding, spa treatments and more.

Accommodation: 3rd night at Hotel Villa Scacciapensieri, Siena.

Meals included: breakfast.
